Editing

Although very time-consuming, editing is a necessary task that is needed to ensure your material is error-free. Something as simple as a misspelled word, incorrect grammar or punctuation can take away from the credibility of the material. Your material is edited for accuracy, consistency, and style. This optional service is offered at 3 different levels:

Level 1: Proofreading and Light Editing

 

This level provides the client with our proofreading expertise; attention will be given foremost to spelling and grammatical errors.  Additionally, we will correct and make consistent:

• punctuation

• verb tenses

• hyphenation

• capitals

• acronyms

• abbreviations

• bolding

• italics

• phrase, sentence and paragraph breaks

Editing enhancement includes suggestions to eliminate ambiguous statements, to point out gaps in argument, missing facts, or inconsistencies (chronological periods, plots, etc.)

 

We aim to enhance the client’s formatting to make the document attractive, impacting and suitable for its intended purpose.  Light editing includes possible rearrangement of sentences or paragraphs to accomplish the above.

Level 2: Proofreading and Moderate Editing

In addition to proofreading and light editing of the document, this level affords the client a more thorough edit with attention mainly to:

• consistent style

• voice (correct verb form in relation to person speaking)

• structure

• language (for impact and making impression…)

• tables and figures

• cross-references

• footnotes, references and bibliographies

Level 3: Proofreading and Extensive Editing

For those clients desiring a serious over-haul of a document, we offer Level 3—a reconstruction.  This includes:

• large-scale re-writing to ensure consistency of style and voice

• text restructuring for more logical thought and comprehension

• addition of suitable headings/subheadings

• use of dot point lists and other devices to break up text for greater readability
